Let’s Keep Giving. So Far, Community Giving Day Raised $47,000!

PRESS RELEASE

DECEMBER 9, 2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

*****************************

Residents of Mecosta County have embraced Community Giving Day 2020! During this uncertain period of the coronavirus pandemic, residents virtually joined together and donated to their favorite non-profit organizations. Those organizations really needed this “shot in the arm” to assist with fund-raising to help address the needs of our community.

Twenty-nine nonprofit organizations participated with a total of $47,160 being donated by our fabulous community.  Of that total amount, $39,160 was raised via on-line donations with another $8,000 in checks that were delivered in-person during the day of the event.  Checks and on-line donations are expected to be continuing throughout the month. If you missed the event date, the Community Giving Day website will stay open until December 31st

The Community Giving Day is a collaborative effort between the Lions Clubs of Mecosta County and the Big Rapids Rotary. Governmental units including, Mecosta County Board of Commissioners, City of Big Rapids and Morton Township each designated December 2nd as our “Community Giving Day”.  In addition to the hard-working volunteers, a big THANK YOU goes out to the Big Rapids Eagles Aerie 2535, Band of Locals, and Mentor Partner’s Inc. for helping to make Community Giving Day 2020 a huge success!
